The 13-tab web dashboard, SPIFFS offline dashboard, all three mobile apps, and Grafana pipeline are done. Every feature shown in this campaign is working right now on real hardware. We are building production units, not a proof of concept.
Do I need the smart ring and Xiaomi watch to use it? ▼
No — BioSenseAir works perfectly as a standalone air quality monitor and GPS logger without any wearables. The 60GHz radar provides contactless HR and breathing with no wearable needed at all. The SR16 ring and Xiaomi watch are optional BLE additions that layer in additional biometrics. The Wearable Hub also supports Garmin, Polar, Oura Ring, and most BLE fitness devices.
What is the Bio-Air Correlation and why does it matter? ▼

Every unit ships with all sensors soldered, firmware pre-flashed, display calibrated, WiFi AP mode pre-configured, and 48-hour burn-in tested. You open the box, power it on, connect your phone to the BioSenseAir-AP hotspot, and open a browser. No soldering, no IDE, no uploads — unless you want to customise, in which case full source code is included.
How does the GPS route mapping work? ▼
BioSenseAir logs a GPS-tagged waypoint every 5 minutes during a tracking session. Each waypoint includes all 5 air quality readings, plus biometric data from any connected wearable. In the Route Map tab you get an interactive Leaflet map with 16 sensor overlay buttons — tap PM2.5 to colour every dot by pollution level, tap Ring HR to see your heart rate along the route, tap Speed to see your cycling pace. Hover any dot for a full popup of all readings at that point. Export as GPX with all sensor extensions included.
Does it need the internet to work? ▼
No. BioSenseAir creates its own WiFi hotspot (BioSenseAir-AP). Your phone connects to it and opens the dashboard at 192.168.4.1 — completely offline. All sensor data, GPS routes, and historical data are stored on-device in SPIFFS flash. The MQTT → Grafana pipeline is optional and only activates when connected to your home router. The web dashboard CDN libraries (Chart.js, Leaflet) load from the internet if available, or fall back to locally stored SPIFFS files if offline.
When will my unit ship? ▼

Yes — the Wearable Hub tab in the web dashboard supports any BLE device exposing standard Bluetooth SIG GATT services. This includes Garmin, Polar, Wahoo/Tickr chest straps, Oura Ring, Samsung Galaxy Watch, Whoop, Fitbit, and most BLE heart rate monitors. The built-in BLE scanner discovers devices automatically, identifies them by name, and shows only the metric cards relevant to what that device exposes. If your device is listed as GATT-compatible, it works.

BioSenseAir v1.3 ships with an upgraded sensor suite: Bosch BMV080 for PM1/PM2.5/PM10 particulate matter (replacing SPS30), Sensirion STCC4 for real CO2 + Temperature + Humidity in one sensor (replacing SGP41 and SHT40 — and giving you actual CO2 readings instead of an estimate), Sensirion SGP40 for VOC index, and Bosch BME690 for barometric pressure plus a bonus gas resistance sensor. Every sensor uses the same I2C bus and the firmware is built and tested on this exact combination.
Does it work offline without internet? ▼
Yes — completely. BioSenseAir serves its web dashboard directly from a microSD card. Copy dashboard.html, chart.js, leaflet.js and leaflet.css onto a FAT32 SD card and the entire dashboard works with zero internet connection. When your phone is online the dashboard loads Chart.js and Leaflet from CDN for speed, then automatically falls back to the SD card files if there is no internet. GPS sessions, waypoint JSONL files and all historical sensor data are also stored on the SD card — a 32GB card holds over 50,000 hours of GPS tracking data.
Does the 2025 Blood Fat & Uric Acid Health Watch work with BioSenseAir? ▼
Yes — BioSenseAir has built-in fingerprint detection for the 2025 Xiaomi ECG+PPG Blood Fat & Uric Acid Health Smartwatch (broadcast names: ECG+PPG, HealthWatch, HB01/HB02/HB03/HB08, DT Ultra). Standard GATT services (Heart Rate 0x180D, SpO₂ 0x1822, ECG 0x1840, Temperature 0x1809) connect immediately without pairing. The proprietary 0xFCC0 service carries Uric Acid (µmol/L) and Blood Lipids (mmol/L) — the firmware includes a byte decode stub and calibration guide so you can reverse-engineer the exact format for your watch model using nRF Connect. We believe in complete transparency — here's what could go wrong and how we'll handle it

⚠️ Component Supply Chain
Global semiconductor shortages can delay specific sensors. The Bosch BMV080, Sensirion STCC4, SGP40 and ESP32-S3 are currently in good supply, but this can change. Lead times of 8–16 weeks are possible for some components.
✅ Mitigation
We place component orders during the campaign — not after. We have identified two alternative suppliers for each critical component. Firmware supports substitute sensors with a configuration flag if needed. BME690 uses the same library API as BME680 — drop-in compatible.
⚠️ PCB Production Timeline
Custom PCB fabrication and SMT assembly takes 4–6 weeks from order to delivery. Quality issues found during testing could add 2–3 weeks for revision and re-spin.
✅ Mitigation
PCB design is already complete and validated on breadboard prototypes. We are working with a manufacturer we have used before. A 2-week buffer is built into the timeline specifically for QA re-spins. Early Bird delivery Month 4 already accounts for this.
⚠️ BLE Wearable Compatibility
Some newer Xiaomi and other smartwatches require proprietary authentication before exposing health data via BLE. The auth key changes with firmware updates. Some devices may not expose ECG over standard GATT.
✅ Mitigation
BioSenseAir uses standard BT SIG GATT services (0x180D HR, 0x1822 SpO₂, 0x1840 ECG) which work without auth on all compliant devices. The 60GHz radar provides contactless biometrics as a full fallback if wearable auth fails. Our firmware scanner also helps users identify exactly which services their device exposes.
⚠️ Shipping & Customs
International shipments can be delayed by customs, import duties, or carrier issues. Some countries have restrictions on devices transmitting at 60GHz (the radar frequency).

We ship with tracked, insured courier services. Duties are the responsibility of the recipient (clearly stated). The MR60BHA1 60GHz radar (Pro model only) complies with FCC/CE regulations — if a specific country has restrictions, a firmware flag can disable the radar module while keeping all other sensors active. Standard BioSenseAir units do not include the radar module.
⚠️ Funding Falls Short
If we don't reach the $50,000 goal, Kickstarter does not charge backers and the campaign fails. Component minimum order quantities mean we need a critical mass of units to make production economically viable.
✅ Mitigation
The $50,000 goal covers 250 units at production cost with full margin — less than half the early bird limit. If we hit 500 early birds, we've already achieved significant overfunding. The firmware and software are complete, so any funds raised are purely for hardware production, not development costs.

We are a small, experienced team of engineers and developers. The software is 100% complete and running on real hardware. We are transparent about what could go wrong and have specific plans for every risk above. If any milestone is delayed by more than 2 weeks, all backers receive a personal email update with the reason and new date. We will not go silent. Your trust means everything to us — and frankly, we want to actually build and ship this because we use it ourselves every day.
